U4IA is proud to support and promote Mother Tongue, the newest exhibition by Brisbane based figurative and mixed media artist Eira-Shay Barker-Hart.
Opening Saturday June 20th from 6–9PM at 7 Avalon Parade, Miami, Mother Tongue is an immersive body of work exploring healing, intuition, memory and humanity’s emotional connection to water and the natural world.
Raised on a remote island off the west coast of Canada, Eira-Shay’s practice is deeply influenced by wilderness, organic textures and the experience of existing closely alongside nature. Through layered oil paintings and intuitive compositions, she creates work that feels both deeply personal and universally understood. Themes of floating, stillness, feminine energy and emotional reflection move throughout the exhibition, creating a visual language rooted in softness, vulnerability and connection.
There is a dreamlike quality to Eira-Shay’s paintings. Figures drift between water, light and landscape while blurred textures and natural tones pull viewers into moments that feel intimate and almost meditative. Her process embraces instinct over perfection, allowing natural forms and emotional responses to guide the direction of each piece.
Mother Tongue explores the idea that before language, humans understood the world through feeling, sensation and connection to the elements around us. Water becomes both a symbol and a space for healing, memory and self reflection. The exhibition invites viewers to slow down, reconnect with their senses and experience art in a more emotional and instinctive way.
Eira-Shay has exhibited and sold works throughout Australia and North America and continues to develop a distinct visual identity recognised for its organic textures, emotional depth and feminine storytelling.
We’re honoured to help share and celebrate this exhibition with the wider community and support an artist whose work resonates on such a genuine level.
